What is Airsoft?

Airsoft is an honour-based sport suitable for all age groups — exciting, safe and developing in many ways.

Airsoft — Sport Based on Honour

Airsoft is a team sport where participants use replica firearms that shoot small plastic pellets. The defining principle of the sport is honour — each player acknowledges their own hits and withdraws from play. No electronic detection systems or referees are needed. This makes airsoft a unique sport that develops personal integrity and fair play alongside physical and tactical skills.

The sport originated in Japan in the 1970s as a safe alternative for firearms enthusiasts. Today, airsoft is played worldwide by millions of people of all ages. In Estonia, airsoft has been growing steadily for years and has a vibrant community of events and players.

Safety First

Safety is the absolute top priority in airsoft. All players are required to wear protective eyewear — this is non-negotiable. At Raadi Airsoft events, we follow strict safety rules developed in cooperation with the Estonian airsoft community:

  • Protective eyewear is mandatory for everyone on the game field
  • Replicas must comply with energy limits (joule limits) — indoors max 1J, outdoors max 2J
  • In the safe zone, replicas must have magazine removed and be on safety
  • Players acknowledge their own hits honestly — a player who is hit announces it clearly
  • No shooting at players who have clearly announced their hit
  • Game leaders' instructions must be followed at all times

Equipment — What Do I Need?

If you are coming to your first airsoft event, you don't need to worry about equipment at all. At Raadi Airsoft events, all necessary gear is available for rent — quality replicas, protective eyewear, BDU clothing and ammunition. You can arrive completely without prior preparation and get everything needed on-site.

Experienced players generally bring their own equipment. The most common replicas are AEG (Automatic Electric Gun) systems that run on rechargeable batteries. There are also gas-powered replicas (GBB — Gas Blowback) and spring-powered replicas. The choice of replica depends on playing style, budget and personal preference. Airsoft for Everyone

One of airsoft's great strengths is its inclusivity. The sport is suitable for men and women, young people from age 13 and adults of all ages. Physical fitness helps but is not a requirement — tactics, communication and teamwork matter at least as much as speed and endurance.

For younger participants (under 18), parental consent is required to participate in events. We warmly welcome young people who want to try airsoft — the sport develops responsibility, problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a team.

Public Games vs Private Events

At Raadi Airsoft, we organise two types of events. Public airsoft games are open to all — you just register, rent gear if needed and join the game. It's a great way to meet the airsoft community and experience the sport for the first time.

Private events are tailored for a specific group — whether it's a birthday party, corporate team, bachelor party or other gathering. Private events are scheduled at a time suitable for your group and the scenario is designed around your wishes. Booking for private events is done via Harkuairsoft.ee.

The Spirit of Airsoft

Airsoft is more than just a game — it's a community. Estonian airsoft players are passionate, fair and welcoming to newcomers. The spirit of the sport is based on mutual trust: if you acknowledge your hits honestly, others do the same. This creates an environment where everyone can enjoy the game without disputes.

At Raadi Airsoft events, we place special emphasis on positive atmosphere. Beginners are always welcome, experienced players help newcomers and game leaders ensure that all participants feel comfortable and safe. Come and discover airsoft — your next adventure starts here!
